JANNE ROOTS FOR THE SAINT LOUIS CARDINALS

When my brother Jim and I went to a family reunion in Mexico, Missouri a few years ago, he said he wanted a Saint Louis Cardinals' hat. I thought it would be fun to buy our Janne one too, since she is the ultimate Los Angeles Dodgers' fan.
Well the Dodgers were long forgotten by the time the World Series came around, but her annual $5 bet for the National League was still at stake with my brother-in0law Owen in Cedar Falls, Washington. In the 6th game, she retrieved the Cardinal hat for luck. It was simply the best baseball game any of us had seen in years.

LEARNING ABOUT AMERICA ON THE RAGBRAI

Historic farmhouse in Nashua, Iowa

Janne and Jerry Fecht took time on the Ragbrai to visit Nashua, Iowa. Seeing the tiny farmhouse and log cabin reminded us what our ancestors experienced in their determination to build the "good life" for us.

JANNE AND JERRY TAKE SIDE TRIP TO NASHUA, IOWA

The Little Brown Church in the Wildwood, a national treasure. We visited the church in Nashua to see where Burnet Brown's great grandmother was recently discovered buried. The church is an influence over the "Little Brown Church" in Studio City, California where Nancy and Ronald Reagan were married.
